1. Scope
1.1 This specification covers standards under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee E20 on Temperature Measurement. 1.2 All standards under the jurisdiction of E20 that meet the requirements discussed in 1.3 shall be classified as test methods. If a precision and bias statement cannot be made, an uncertainty analysis shall be discussed in lieu of the precision and bias statement. 1.3 For a standard to be affected by these guidelines, it shall meet the following requirements: 1.3.1 The standard is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee E20 or its subcommittees and 1.3.2 The standard describes a calibration procedure with specific steps that result in the calibration of a temperature-measuring device or hydrometer.
This guide deals with standards pertaining to calibration that are under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee E20 on Temperature Measurement. More specifically, the guide covers standards that are to be classified as test methods. Typically, a precision and bias statement cannot be made for a standard covering calibration.
