1. Rationale
This revision of D3161 includes a title change to reflect the fact that the method is applicable to all steep slope roofing products. The method has been used for testing the wind resistance of all types of steep slope roofing products for many years and the results have been accepted by the Building Code authorities. This revision includes all the prior requirements for asphalt shingles, and the most recently approved revisions of the procedure (April 2012).
