Developed by Subcommittee: E18.04 | Committee E18 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Scope

This document was originally conceived of and written as a standard guide, and was balloted for subcommittee approval Fall 2007. Several comments and one negative vote were received pertaining to appropriateness of this document as a standard guide, specifically, that the document was of sufficient size to warrant publication as a manual. Additionally, it was pointed out that as a document separate from the standards book, it was more likely to be utilized by practicing researchers. The issue was discussed at the Fall 2007 ASTM meeting with task force members, who agreed that the document would serve greater value as a separate publication. The manual title is Just About Right (JAR) Scales: Design Usage, Benefits and Risks. It is MNL 63. it is expected to be available in the 3rd quarter of 2008.
