1. Scope
This specification will provide a complete pre-engineered metal canopy system, manufacturers standard mutually dependent components, and assemblies that form a pre-engineered overhead canopy system.
This standard is needed because there is currently no such consensus standard available, and there are a significant number of such canopies being constructed at access control points into Department of Defense and other government agency sites with no standardization. This is a component of the E 54 committee's DoD UFC/UFGS conversion to national standards initiative.
