1. Rationale
Current requirements for Quick Setting natural cements include a minimum time of final setting of 30 minutes. Initial set time requirements are 10 minutes minimum and 30 minutes maximum. While the final set time requirements were part of the original 1904 standard, there is currently no technical justification for this restriction. For some applications, such as underwater repointing, requirements that quick-setting natural cements must provide a prolonged time of final setting can be disadvantageous.
