Developed by Subcommittee: E07.02 | Committee E07 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Scope

These digital reference images illustrate the types and degrees of discontinuities that may be found in steel castings that have section thicknesses up to 2 in. (51 mm. These reference images consist of three separate volumes as follows: (1) medium voltage (250 kVp) X-ray; (2) 1 MV X-rays and Iridium-192 radiation, and (3) 2 MV to 4 MV X-rays and Cobalt-60 radiation. These digital reference images are not intended to illustrat the types and degrees of discontinuities found in steel castings when performing film radiography. For film radiography of steel castings, refer to Reference Radiographs E446. This standard is needed to communicate acceptance criteria for steel castings compatible with digital X-ray imaging systems.
