1. Rationale
This is a revision which includes reapproving the standard. The proposed revisions focus on the addition of parameters for suitable electronic measurement of temperature with a digital contact thermometer(DCT). The addition of DCT adds ASTM STM references (Section 2), a definition (Section 3) and a complete revision of paragraph 6.2. Other revisions are: 1) removal of all references to cgs units and revision of paragraph 1.2. 2) Addition of five standards to referenced documents. 3) Revision of 6.4 to specifically include digital timers and frequency of calibration.
