    1. Scope

    This specification covers the polyethylene pipe grade material, dimensions, design equations,and pressure ratings applicable to equal outlet pipe tees fabricated from miter-cut polyethylene pressure pipe segments, using a flat heater plate for fusion joining of the miter-cut segments. The constituent pressure pipe segments are sawed from axially extruded standard, or custom diameter and wall thickness, pressure pipe made per ASTM F714, AWWA C906, ASTM D3035, ASTM D2513. The equal outlet tees must be internally or externally reinforced using pipe wall thicknesses greater than the pipe main to which the tee will be fused. The design basis and equations for pressure rating ate provided here-in.

    Polyethylene pipe has been made for 50-years. Other pipe material have standardized dimensions and pressure rating systems in place. HDPE has none, yet. Users are demanding uniform dimensions and pressure rating systems for polyethylene fittings, including line tees, which can be inserted into engineering computer systems for layout and plant design purposes.
