1. Scope
This specification covers the polyethylene material, the dimensions for flat end-caps, and tori-spherical end caps in NPS 2-in to 54-in polyethylene pipe, and the design equations used for the determination of pressure rating of end caps. The end-caps may be injection or compression molded, or machined from flat plate.
Polyethylene pipe has been made for 50-years. There are no dimensional nor pressure rating standards for end-caps. The industry needs standard dimensions and design equations for the pressure rating of end-caps. This new standard will solve that need.
