1. Rationale

The standard underwent a thorough editorial review. Inconsistencies were addressed in the units and equations. The criterion for maintaining the confining pressure applied during the test was refined from 10% to 5%. Further, corrections were provided to formatting of the standard to comply with the latest ASTM requirements, including the statement on significant digits and the reporting section.
