1. Scope
1.1 This specification covers drawn, soft annealed round copper electrode wire used in welding machines for the purpose of seam welding of cans. 1.2 Units--The values stated in SI units are regarded as the standard. The values given in parenthesis are mathematical conversions to inch-pounds that are provided for information only and are not to be considered standard. 1.3 This standard specification does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard specification to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
This standard was developed because of the need for specific requirements related to electrode can wire that does not require the same criteria defined in B03 or the general requirements for a variety of materials often cited in B49. This specification specifically addresses the requirements for wire used in welding machines as an electrode for seam welding of three-piece cans.
