ASTM WK35384

(What is a Work Item? / How to Input to a Work Item)

Work Item: ASTM WK35384 - Revision of A941 - 10a Standard Terminology Relating to Steel, Stainless Steel, Related Alloys, and Ferroalloys

Active Standard: A941 - 13

Developed by Subcommittee: A01.92 | Committee A01 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Rationale

The term, hot-finished, appears in A106/A106M, A210/A210M, A213/A213M, and in A335/A335M. These tubular product specifications are the responsibility of two subcommittees, A01.09 and A01.10. The term may appear in other A01 specifications, but the appearance in four specifications under the responsibility of two different subcommittees is sufficient to justify addition of the term to A941. An earlier action, to include the definition in A530, the General Requirements specification for carbon and alloy steel pipe, received negative votes that supported including the definition in A941 rather than in A530. Further, the term should be defined, to distinguish the condition it represents from the term, normalized.
