    1. Scope

    This test method determines the composition, in weight percent, of various piperylene and isoprene high purity products and of C5 hydrocarbon mixtures in the range of 0.005% to 100%, using external standard or effective carbon number. This test method is applicable to the compositional analysis of crude C5 hydrocarbon materials from which piperylene and isoprene may be purified. It does not purport to determine the concentrations of non-hydrocarbon impurities or of hydrocarbons having more than eleven carbon atoms.

    Quality control of products and raw products in the production of isoprene and piperylene to be used in other petrochemical processes like the production of tires.
