ASTM WK35261

New Test Method for Laboratory Measurement of Acoustical Effectiveness for Naval and Marine Ship Bulkhead Treatments

    (What is a Work Item?)

Developed by Subcommittee: E33.03 | Committee E33 | Contact Staff Manager

    WK35261

    1. Scope

Provide a test method for the measurement and reporting of treatment acoustical and non-acoustical parameters that are of importance to ship acoustics. The primary focus will be to describe methods to measure treatment effects on radiation efficiency, acceptance, and transmission loss (making use of the E90 standard), with notes on absorption and damping.

This standard has been requested by the US Navy. There is currently no standard for the complete measurement of all pertinent ship treatment effectiveness parameters, particularly radiation efficiency and acceptance.
