    1. Scope

    PurposeThis practice describes best practices for the development and use of performance assessments that measure the demonstration of language use in specific professional, occupational, or academic contexts and domains. Such assessments typically require simulation of context-specific tasks in order to support decisions about examinees ability to carry out the language requirements of the target context. Limitations This practice is not intended to address assessment of general language proficiency or non-language-related job skills.
