1. Rationale
According to our recent research, C35 sand is not currently available in the western United States. The same situation has occurred over the years for C926 with difficulty locating sand that meets C897. My proposal will permit the use of regional sand failing to meet the gradation limits in C35 just as currently exists in C926. There is an extensive amount of successful work in place in the western US that has used washed plaster sand not meeting the gradation limits in C35.
