1. Rationale
Some expanded metal lath manufacturers are producing below weight expanded metal lath products, marketing them as nominal. They use the verbiage found in ASTM C-1063-08, TABLE 3 - Types and Weights of Metal Plaster Bases and Corresponding Maximum Permissible Spacing of Supports. The wording Nominal, is supporting those who wish to produce and market a non-code compliant product. This change would discourage manufacturers of galvanized expanded metal lath to produce lightweight lath sheets that do not meet the standard as outlined in ASTM C-847-10, Section 4.5.4 Weight, +/- 10%.
