Developed by Subcommittee: F11.40 | Committee F11 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Scope

1.1 This test method provides a means to evaluate the cleaning performance of Floor Cleaning Steam Appliances using soil and stain types that are typically found in household kitchens and bathrooms. 1.2 This test method employs visual determinations of soil and stain removal from floor surfaces to assess cleaning performance of Floor Cleaning Steam Appliances. A standard is needed by the Steam Appliance Industry to evaluate the efficacy of soil/stain removal from resilient surfaces. This is a growing industry with new companies entering the market. There are currently no industry standard in existence to determine relative cleaning performances between products and design iterations. The test method is expected to be used by product manufacturers, independent laboratories and consumer advocates to judge the performance of the target products.
