ASTM WK34546

(What is a Work Item? / How to Input to a Work Item)

Work Item: ASTM WK34546 - Reinstatement of E903 - 96 Standard Test Method for Solar Absorptance, Reflectance, and Transmittance of Materials Using Integrating Spheres (Withdrawn 2005)

Active Standard: E903 - 12

Developed by Subcommittee: E44.20 | Committee E44 Home | Contact Staff Manager

The applications of materials to covering and protecting photovoltaic panel absorbers, and maximizing optical to electrical performance is dependent on the optical properties of covering materials. The glass community has recommended the re-instatement of this standard, as the standard was previously found to be highly useful. Because of a lapse in re-approval ballot on the required 5-year cycle, the standard was withdrawn in 1998. Renewed interest in the solar applications of covering materials, and material properties in general in the solar community has led to an extensive review, revision, and drafting of the subject standard. .
