This standard will be the IEEE/ANSI N42.55, Standard for the Performance of Portable X-Ray Systems for Use in Bomb Identification. This standard will address technical image-quality performance for portable x-ray imaging systems used for bomb identification, as well as requirements for radiation exposure limits, electromagnetic compatibility, mechanical durability, and environmental ranges and tolerances. The standard will specify objective test methods and how to score them, test objects, and minimum acceptable performance requirements. Note, this is an IEEE/ANSI standard. The ASTM has graciously provided a collaborative web site within which we can share documents and comments to expedite the development of our standard. Please accept this invitation so you can have access to the collaboration web site and participate in the development of the N42.55. If you join, you will be able to view documents related to the project (proposed test objects, test methods, and performance requirements) on line.
