Introduce sustainability as a long term metric that can be used to evaluate the effects that textiles can cause to the soil, water, air and people.
This standard can be used to (1) identify specific issues that distinguish textiles made of natural fibers and textiles made of manufactured fibers, and (2) present information that focuses on how the key differences between these two fiber types need to be reconciled by manufacturers, retailers, and consumers in order to create sustainability as a viable, useful, and valuable long term program.
