    New Test Method for Biaxial Tension Testing of Geosynthetics

    1. Scope

    The scope is to develop a standard test method to determine the in-plane stiffness of geosynthetics that are subjected to biaxial loading.

    The in-plane Poissons ratio is an input parameter needed for mechanistic, finite-element based pavement response models. The value of the parameter has an important influence on the stiffness response of the geosynthetic in applications where biaxial loads are applied, such as reinforced pavement.
