1. Scope
This standard specifies safety and performance requirements aimed at providing safer soccer goals and thereby reducing injuries and fatalities. This standard applies to all soccer goals. This standard supersedes ASTM F2056-09. This standard supersedes ASTM F2673-08.
A standard for safety and performance of soccer goals is needed to ensure consumers can easily decipher a goal that meets a minimum level of safety from one that does not. Manufacturers will use the standard as a guide when designing, producing, and selling soccer goals. Consumers will reference this standard as a criteria for selecting soccer goals for purchase. Legislators will reference the standard when writing laws to ensure public safety.
