1. Rationale
The Controls Task Group is addressing content in Section 5 to support the flow of design practices through a system engineering process that includes an analysis of hazards and an allocation of hazard mitigation to a safety-related control system. This ballot is part of a series of ballots aimed at adding new general requirements for Hazard Mitigation. These general requirements are directly related to a system engineering process wherein hazards are analyzed and safety measures are taken as appropriate. This process is important to be able to design those safety measures, which may include safety-related control systems. This work item will consist of numerous ballot items.
