ASTM WK33304

(What is a Work Item? / How to Input to a Work Item)

Work Item: ASTM WK33304 - Revision of D3302 / D3302M - 10 Standard Test Method for Total Moisture in Coal

Active Standard: D3302 / D3302M - 12

Developed by Subcommittee: D05.21 | Committee D05 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Rationale

D3302, Total Moisture in Coal, specifies that samples be air dried at a temperature not to exceed 40C. The D3302 task group will test the hypothesis that coals CAN be air dried at temperatures exceeding 40C for short periods of time without oxidizing the coal (as would be evidenced by a reduction in MAF Btu/lb.) and yet obtain the same analytical result for total moisture as when lower air drying temperatures are used.

Keywords

air-drying; air-drying loss; coal; residual moisture; total moisture; Coal products--moisture; Heating tests--coal/coke; Moisture analysis--coal/coke; Total moisture analysis;
