1.1 This test method is designed to propagate spores of Clostridium difficile using a broth culture method. 1.2 It is the responsibility of the user of this test method to determine whether good laboratory practices are required and follow when appropriate. 1.3 This test method should only be performed by those trained in microbiological techniques. 1.4 Units--The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. This proposed test method would be used by microbiology laboratories to propagate spore crops of C. difficile for use in a variety of efficacy tests. This proposed standard is a simple, easy-to-perform test method that will sporulate several different strains of C. difficile.
