(What is a Work Item? / How to Input to a Work Item)

Work Item: ASTM WK32345 - New Test Method for the Measurement of Composition, Energy Content and Indices for Liquid Light Hydrocarbons Such as LNG, LPG and NGL

Developed by Subcommittee: D03.12 | Committee D03 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Scope

1.1 This test method is for both online and laboratory instrument based determination of liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquid petroleum gas and propane (LPG) and natural gas liquids (NGL) composition, energy content and indices using Raman spectroscopy. The components commonly determined according to this test method are CH4, C2H6, C3H8, i-C4H10, n-C4H10, iC5H12, n-C5H12, neo-C5H12, C6H12, C6H14, N2, O2, CO2, H2, and H2S. The applicable range of this standard is 200 ppmv to 100 percent hydrocarbons (C1-C6). The molecular composition of liquefied natural gas (LNG) is important for custody transfer and production. It is used to calculate the heating value of LNG and it is important to ensure regulatory compliance.

Keywords
