Work Item: ASTM WK32271 - New Test Method for Evaluation of Foaming Tendency of Liquid Inks and Ink Vehicles

Developed by Subcommittee: D01.56 | Committee D01 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Scope

This test method describes the procedure for evaluating the foaming tendency of liquid inks and ink vehicles based on changes in density. This test method is not intended to be used for inks or ink vehicles based on flammable solvents . This method is meant to simulate the generation of foam that occurs when a liquid ink or ink vehicle is subjected to high shear during the printing process. Foaming on press can cause print defects and makes it difficult to accurately measure and control viscosity. The method will be of use to printing ink manufacturers and printers.
