1. Scope
This test method describes the procedure for evaluating the foaming tendency of liquid inks and ink vehicles based on changes in density. This test method is not intended to be used for inks or ink vehicles based on flammable solvents .
This method is meant to simulate the generation of foam that occurs when a liquid ink or ink vehicle is subjected to high shear during the printing process. Foaming on press can cause print defects and makes it difficult to accurately measure and control viscosity. The method will be of use to printing ink manufacturers and printers.
