1. Rationale
Each of the following terms currently appears in multiple Standards. With each term, the wording of the definition is either exactly the same or nearly the same in the relevant Standards. Thus, the terms are being balloted to become Committee-wide definitions for D19. The following definitions have been revised per feedback received previously. The phrase in ion-exchange chromatography was added to all definitions to distinguish them from usages in disciplines such as radiochemistry. When the appropriate balloted term is approved, then (per D19 by-laws) the applicable subcommittee(s) will decide if the term(s) should remain in the specific Standard(s) or not.
