This standard is being balloted for withdrawal with no replacement because a version of this standard exists within another organization (American Wood Protection Association - AWPA). The AWPA standard - E1-09 uses a similar exposure procedure, but has increased reporting and result criteria as well as a more discreet visual block assessment (the only type assessment used in the current D3345 standard). The subcommittee has discussed at meetings the validity of the argument that the D7 committee needs standards which deal with the primary deterioration agents - termites, decay- of the committee material - wood. If the withdrawal of this standard is approved by the subcommittee it will move forward as a main committee ballot.
