1. Scope
1. Scope 1.1 This test method contains test procedures that apply to insulating links for verification of the load capacity and electrical integrity when used to handle loads near energized power lines. 1.2 This test method recommends technical details to be used for: (a) design verification of manufactured insulating links, (b) for required proof testing for manufacturers, and (c) for periodic testing and inspection to be performed by the user or the agent of the user to insure continued reliability and performance. 1.3 Insulating links whose primary application does not pertain to power line electrical safety are not within the scope of this test method. 1.4 This procedure outlines the specific minimum material and manufacturing for an insulating link to be tested and inspected to this standard. 1.5 The general test requirements contained in section 5.0 may apply to some or all of the tests outlined in the standard, depending on the test being performed. 1.6 Recommendations for the care and use of the products covered by this standard are outlined in section 9 and Appendix A and apply to product use by the user. For continued reliability and safety in application these should be noted and adhered to. 1.7 UnitsThe values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard.
