1. Rationale
The current D975 combined water and sediment requirement does not adequately protect all modern engines and fuel systems that utilize diesel fuel. Fuel system injection pressure increases and injection strategies, such as multiple injections per cycle, are more sensitive to particles and corrosion products than historical systems. Implementation of a separate water control combined with a more prescriptive particle control are necessary to all D975 diesel fuels to be fit for purpose.
