ASTM WK31013

(What is a Work Item? / How to Input to a Work Item)

Work Item: ASTM WK31013 - Revision of F2620 - 09e1 Standard Practice for Heat Fusion Joining of Polyethylene Pipe and Fittings

Active Standard: F2620 - 12

Developed by Subcommittee: F17.20 | Committee F17 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Rationale

The current standard recommends an abrasion method (emery cloth) be used for surface preparation of the pipe and fitting mating surfaces. Technical data was developed that demonstrates the scrapping method currently used for electrofusion is a superior method for pipe preparation. Test results also verify that preparation of the fitting surface is not necessary.
