    1. Scope

    1.1 This test method describes a procedure for determining the movement capability of aerosol foam sealant used in a specific profile simulated construction joint. 1.2 Aerosol Foam Sealants are used for a variety of end-use applications intending to reduce air infiltration. 1.3 Currently two foam sealant types are applicable to this standard, single component polyurethane and latex types. 1.4 There are no other know test methods specific for measuring the flow rate of aerosol foam sealants. 1.5 Values are reported in SI units only. 1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

    Currently most tube type caulks and elastomeric sealants communicate to the user a stated standardized joint movement capability so the user can select an appropriate product for a specific application. Currently there is no such agreed metric for aerosol foam sealant. This standard will help users better select an aerosol foam sealant product based on the expected construction joint movement.
