    1. Scope

    1.1 This test method describes a procedure for determining the flow rate (weight of product dispensed per unit time) of aerosol foam sealants. 1.2 Aerosol Foam Sealants are used for a variety of end-use applications intending to reduce air infiltration. 1.3 Currently two foam sealant types are applicable to this standard, single component polyurethane and latex types. 1.4 There are no other know test methods specific for measuring the flow rate of aerosol foam sealants. 1.5 Values are reported in SI units only. 1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

    This standard will assist the Foam sealant industry to communicate to users and agencies standardized flow rates which are needed in determining the useful product life. In addition, this is useful for the user in selecting a low or high flow rate product depending on the application.
