1. Rationale

The revision of the bearing fill based on volume will bring the test method back in line with the IP method which is the procedure used when creating the research report. The precision of the ASTM test method is based entirely on IP220/93. The 1993 version of the method states to fill a bearing with 9.5 +/- 0.1 ml of grease. This will ensure consistent fill with grease based on calcium sulfonate thickeners and PFPE based lubricants. Also, revised to add ordering information for a bearing packer used with the test.
