(What is a Work Item? / How to Input to a Work Item)

Work Item: ASTM WK30526 - New Guide for Installations of Thermal Insulation Systems for Childed Water Applications Exposed to Humid Environments.

Developed by Subcommittee: C16.40 | Committee C16 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Scope

1. Scope 1.1 This guide will address the science about vapor drive and dew points for insulated chilled water systems; provide information on design and selection materials including vapor retarder assemblies, installation of thermal insulation integrated with vapor retarder assemblies for chilled water applications in environments such as unconditioned spaces. 1.2 This guide is intended to minimize condensation related damage to the insulation system and building systems and to minimize water vapor intrusion into the insulation. In doing this, the benefits are to minimize the conditions that contribute to mold growth, extend the life of the chilled water insulation system, minimize corrosion under the insulation (CUI), and maintain the mechanical system energy efficiency. This guide is intended to inform mechanical designers, engineers, contractors, and installers about insulated chilled water systems.
