1. Rationale
Here are the changes to ASTM F2178 discussed at the last meeting to allow for less testing when hoods or other face and head protective systems have a degree of extra protection. This base can be used for some of the other standards to reduce testing but it works best for hoods, and hard caps. If this methodology is acceptable at Sub, we will also roll this out as the only method for testing hard caps. This will reduce testing costs for some hoods and faceshield assemblies by about 50%.
