1. Scope
1.1 This specification establishes the minimum requirements for a quality assurance system for manufacturers of lght sport aircraft or light sport aircraft kits or both. 1.2 This specification applies to aircraft seeking civil aviation authority approval in the form of flight certificates, flight permits, or other like documentation. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
Through discussions with civil aviation authorities, industry, auditing bodies, and within the F37 committee itself, it has been decided to undertake a quality assurance (QA) harmonization effort across LSA aircraft types. The end goal is to consolidate the five existing standards into a single standard that can be used and developed across the industry. This effort will first focus on identifying the key differences between the five standards. Then, the task group will discuss harmonization of these areas of difference. Finally, the task group will ballot a new QA standard that can be used across all aircraft types.
