ASTM WK30290

(What is a Work Item? / How to Input to a Work Item)

Work Item: ASTM WK30290 - Revision of F2212 - 09 Standard Guide for Characterization of Type I Collagen as Starting Material for Surgical Implants and Substrates for Tissue Engineered Medical Products (TEMPs)

Active Standard: F2212 - 11

Developed by Subcommittee: F04.42 | Committee F04 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Rationale

In an effort to reduce occurrences of multiple definitions for a single term, Committee F04 approved and has now initiated a terminology consolidation and harmonization effort [See Revision of Bylaws Section 6.4, F04 (09-03), Item 1 and WK25756, F04 (09-05), Item 14]. The new provision encourages both the identification of multiple definitions and the generation of proposals for their resolution. In an effort to continue this process, ENDOTOXIN is now being proposed as a candidate for definition harmonization. This particular work and ballot item is in specific regard to the modification of the existing definition of ENDOTOXIN - solely within the F2212 document.
