1.1 This guide provides design guidelines for high-energy breaching tools intended for making openings in reinforced concrete walls, floors, ceilings, and other structural components to rescue people trapped, for example, in a collapsed structure. 1.2 This guide applies to breaching tools that are self-contained using a high-energy cartridge (that is, not powered through a separate unit or umbilical cable or hose).
The guide is intended to serve as reference for urban seach and rescue organizations to evaluate basic performance of portable high-impact energy tools for breaching concrete.
