1. Scope
This specification covers butanol intended to be blended with unleaded gasolines at 1 to 12.5 volume % for use as a spark ignition automotive engine fuel.
Multiple companies (Gevo, BP/Dupont, Cobalt, etc) are working on technology to develop butanol to commerical scale for use in spark ignition automotive engine fuel. This will help industry/engine manufacturers/certification groups to establish a standard on which to operate.
