    1. Rationale

    The current 6.3 identifies a limited number of suitable film materials which can be used to cover disposable x-ray cells. The suitable films listed include film materials which were available at the time the method was developed. Newer film materials have become available which are more resistant to leakage and provide statistically comparable results for D4927 (see supporting Research Report). The proposed revision is being made to update 6.3 in order to allow newer x-ray cell window film materials to be used when doing a D4927 analyses with supporting data.
