1. Rationale
It has been observed that for some time this specification lists S50100 and S50200, martensitic alloy steels having only 4.00-6.00 Cr, in Table 1 although the scope of A314 states that the specification covers stainless steel billets and bars intended only for forging. Furthermore, Table 1 does not reflect the recommended accuracy of specification of many individual elements as recommended by A959. A959 is added to the Reference Documents. Revisions of Table 1 are made to follow the recommended practices of A959.
