Work Item: ASTM WK29514 - New Test Method for The measurement of particle concentration, particle size, shape and color in liquid paints. The method uses light microscopy and dynamic imaging with high intensity cold lighting to back illuminate a liquid paint or pigment dispersion or slurry to determine particle characteristics.

1. Scope

The purpose is fill a need for repeatable automatic particle analysis in the lab and on line to replace subjective operator counting. Used by formulators and QC people in the dispersion of paint and pigments. The laser based automatic analysis has been withdrawn.
