ASTM WK29190

Revision of D140 / D140M - 09 Standard Practice for Sampling Bituminous Materials

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: D140 / D140M - 14

Developed by Subcommittee: D04.30 | Committee D04 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Rationale

Minor revisions are being made to this standard. 500 mL [1 pt] sizes have been added to the laboratory sample size and drum sample size minimum requirements in Section 6 because there is not always a need to sample that much material based on the testing being conducted. Emulsified samples were split out into Section 6.1.3 because the way they are identified is written in a confusing manner. The word positive was removed from Section 8.2 because that implies that the pressure inside the container is greater than that outside the container. The point is to have a sealed container. Section 8.6.1 was added to require an identification of the product and sampling date to the sample container at a minimum. It is intended that the user put as much information on the label as is useful to them. the testing community.
