1. Scope
This standard covers a variety of materials, new and used and various methods used in the construction of temporary fences used to define the boundary of construction sites enhancing public safety. A temporary fence is a barrier used to segregate an area during a period of construction and is removed at the end of the construction phase. The duration of service can vary and consideration should be given to the length of time the temporary fence will be in use. When determining materials and installation methods security requirements and site safety concerns should also be considered when specifying temporary fencing, in some cases, due to specific site conditions, a permanent fence installation may be employed as temporary fencing.
This standard will be used by specifiers to insure potential safety issues are considered and addressed when temporary fences are utilized
