ASTM WK28928

New Practice for Measuring Bulk Density and Mass per Unit Area of Dusts

    (What is a Work Item?)

Developed by Subcommittee: E27.04 | Committee E27 | Contact Staff Manager

    WK28928

    1. Scope

This practice includes suggested methods for measuring the bulk density and mass per unit area of dusts. The methods can be used for evaluating dust samples in a laboratory setting or for evaluating dust accumulations in industrial facilities.

NFPA standards provide thresholds of the allowable thickness or mass of dust that can be allowed to accumulate in a facility. This methodology will provide data needed to convert between mass loadings and thicknesses of dust.
