New Practice for Use of Statistics in the Evaluation of Instrumental Analytical Data

    (What is a Work Item?)

Developed by Subcommittee: E01.22 | Committee E01 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Scope

This practice provides for the statistical evaluation of data from instruments such as those using spectrometric methods for analysis, including Spark-AESOES, ICP-AES and GD-AES, but not including XRF. The evaluation includes various ways to determine variance and standard deviation; testing for outliers and bias; establishing instrumental limits of detection; determining confidence intervals; and testing for drift.

Assist analysis in the proper use of statistics in evaluating instrumental data

bias; confidence interval; determination limit; drift; outliers; precision
