1. Scope
1.1This test method covers Time Domain Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (TD-NMR) based determination of tacticity of polypropylene resins and granules. This method may also be applicable to other polymer resins and granules. 1.2This rapid and non-destructive test procedure utilizes 20MHz (nominal) bench top TD-NMR analyzers with sampling volume of 2 10 ml at a fixed sample temperature.
Tacticity of PP is often measured by chemical extraction methods, which are time consuming, costly on solvents and not environmental-friendly. This proposed method provides a rapid, non-destructive, non-invasive and solvent-free measurement for quality control.
